St.Louis is coming up really soon! I am super excited! I’d like to thank you all so much for supporting me through this experience. St.Louis is a missions trip to help kids learn and show them God’s love through action.
Now a little more about this trip, in St. Louis we’ll be doing lots of things. The three main activities are visiting kids’ schools to help with activities, backyard bible camps, and doing yard work for those who can’t manage.
Thank you all again so so much! God has blessed me with such amazing people! This trip will help me understand more about missions and prepare me for things in later life. I’m excited to see in what other ways God will help me through this experience. I am so grateful for all of you!
If you feel called to pray for my trip, travels is a big thing! We’ll be driving for a while and we want to make sure everyone is safe. Another big thing is for the people there, I hope that through talking to them and actions we can show them Jesus and the love of Christ!
I will definitely post more after the trip! Hopefully with pictures. 🙂
Thank you!
St.Louis 2.0
Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to write a post to tell you how amazing this trip went! There were so many moments that had a great impact on my life; there were definitely some funny spaces too! We did so many incredible things, a few examples were: tutoring kids, doing yard work, and running Backyard Bible Clubs!
Tutoring
This was so fun! Every morning we would wake up, and after breakfast and devotions, our group leader would drive us from the place we were staying to a school (We stayed in bunk rooms at New City Fellowship Church). Each day we would help kids make crafts that related to their lesson (they were learning about the Underground Railroad), grow plants, and we even helped them make skits about folktales! In between learning time, we would also go outside and play with our new best friends.
Their school was the same place they went for church each Sunday; their classrooms were the same as their Sunday School rooms. These kids didn’t have their own school supplies, and they didn’t bring their own Bibles. They ate breakfast and lunch in the church cafeteria, but these kids were so SO happy! They never stopped smiling, and they were super kind! Some of my new friends (who I hope to write to) are Sagot, Saro, Ayusha, and Linus. I loved making new friends and doing my best to help out!
Yard Work
Once we got back to our place, we’d have a quick lunch and change into our work clothes! We’d drive to our worksite and prepare for some fun! On Monday, my group and I helped Ms. Pauline scrape the siding of her house! (Her house was to be primed and repainted later in the week by our other groups 🙂 On Tuesday, we mowed lawns, weeded, and cleaned up fences. On Wednesday, we took a break and had an amazing time at the St. Louis Zoo! If you ever go to St.Louis, I highly recommend giving the zoo a visit! Thursday, my group of girls and I mixed and poured cement to help Ms. Leona and her husband get an amazing new sidewalk! I really enjoyed meeting and talking with these people! They had poor living conditions (such as trash thrown in their yard and not stable housing). Through it all, each and every person told us how much they loved Jesus and knew He had a plan for them.
Backyard Bible Clubs
Each night our missions group would split in half, we’d each go to a different site(such as parks or apartment complexes). Within our groups, we had a snack team, a teaching team, a sports team, and a craft team. Each of our teams would provide snacks and equipment for the kids to keep! The goal of our teams was to show God’s love to these kids mainly through our actions. During the Bible Clubs, I was part of the craft team. Every night we would bring different craft supplies to share with the kids. It was incredible getting to know these kids, and they taught me many lessons. One of them was gratitude! These kids weren’t living in exceptional conditions, but they never complained! The kids were so happy when we gave them the supplies at the end of the week.
Overall, this trip was amazing! I am so glad I had the opportunity to go; I hope to use the things I’ve learned for the Philippines trip and more.
I hope everyone is having an amazing week! I’m so sorry for the late update, I wanted to get some pictures to add in and it took a while to get them from our leaders
